I’m actually considering making a training course for MagicaVoxel. Click it to make sure it’s pointing up, and under the console is a spot that gives tool tips and shortcut hints of whatever your mouse is hovering over. Next to the camera icon there’s an arrow. One thing that helps navigation is making sure tool tips are on. The button has been there for at least a year (when I started), but don’t feel bad, the interface can be a little overwhelming if you aren’t familiar. Saving with that camera icon at the bottom left will save it at the full resolution. ![]() So my screen is 1920x1080, but I can render the full 2048x2048. This resolution scales to fit within your view pane. In render mode you can select the resolution at the top right next to the sample count, default is 960x800, max is 2048x2048. Unfortunately you can't render above 2048x2048 as far as I know.Īt the bottom left of the screen, just left of the command line is a camera icon. The biggest image you can render will be about 5MB. They don't have bad lossy compression that will wreck the image details, but are still very small. PNG is the best file you'll get out of the program. Obviously change it up depending on what effect you want. Some subtle DOF can go a long way to making a scene look very pretty without an obvious blur that makes it look like a macro shot of toys. This gives me tighter control over lighting situations, and images become more immersive when you see visible lighting objects (like lamps, flashlights, TV screens) illuminating the room around. Personally, I like having the max number of light reflections, GI on, and I typically light with emmisive objects instead of the global light settings. With GI off, low samples can look very painterly, and with GI it looks more like a high ISO photo (pixel noise). This is true whether you have GI (Global Illumination) on or off. I've seen and made some amazing renders using a lower sample size but the texture effect of the noise can be really nice. Samples per pixel isn't really "low quality to high quality" so much as it is "noisy to smooth". ![]()
